Services offered at our Scottsdale location

Consultation services

At any point in their cancer journey, patients may call or chat with an Oncology Information Specialist to schedule an appointment to meet with an expert in medical, radiation or surgical oncology. Patients may also contact the Outpatient Care Center in Scottsdale directly to schedule an appointment. A member of the team will then contact patients to collect more information about their specific diagnosis and assist them in preparing for their visit.

After contacting us for a consultation, patients meet with a doctor to review their medical information and answer specific questions regarding their diagnosis. Their doctor will discuss whether additional tests or scans may be required, while also working with patients to develop a personalized treatment plan based on their specific cancer type and stage, as well as their individual needs and treatment goals.

Treatment options

In addition to offering medical oncology, radiation oncology and surgical oncology consultations, the Outpatient Care Center in Scottsdale is designed to deliver onsite treatment to patients who require infusion chemotherapy.

If patients require immediate radiation oncology treatments or a surgical procedure, your clinical team will assist with a referral, which may include receiving services at our comprehensive cancer center in Goodyear, Arizona. The comprehensive care center is equipped with experienced teams of multidisciplinary experts who work closely with our Outpatient Care Center specialists.

Genetic testing and counseling

Cancer forms when mutations (changes) in a cell’s DNA result in uncontrolled, abnormal cell growth. Some families carry gene mutations that are passed down from one generation to the next. Genetic testing may help patients determine whether their cancer resulted from an inherited gene mutation and whether they are at an increased risk for a second cancer.

CTCA offers genetic counseling as part of our telemedicine services, with trained counselors meeting with patients in one-hour video sessions to answer questions and help simplify complex concepts into understandable terms. The goal is to provide clear information about genetic risk factors, address patients’ concerns and determine whether genetic testing may be an option. If our counselors recommend testing, patients are not obligated to have the tests.

Genomic testing

Every cancer, like every patient, is different. Advanced genomic testing may help identify DNA alterations that are driving the growth of a particular tumor. As we understand more about these gene mutations, we are better able to offer cancer treatment therapies designed to specifically target changes in the tumor's genomic profile. Information about genomic changes that are unique to an individual cancer may help determine treatments that may be appropriate for each patient. It's the promise of precision cancer treatment—a focus on the individual tumor in the individual patient.

Since genomic testing is not appropriate for every patient, an oncologist will help determine on a case-by-case basis whether certain patients are good candidates for the assessments.
