Downtown Chicago

Located in the heart of Downtown Chicago, in the Streeterville neighborhood, Cancer Treatment Centers of America® (CTCA) Outpatient Care Center (formerly the Cyberknife Cancer Institute of Chicago) offers patients in and around Chicago convenient access to personalized cancer care and state-of-the-art technologies, such as the CyberKnife® radiosurgery system. Whether you have been recently diagnosed or you are seeking a second opinion, CTCA® offers expertise that comes from working exclusively with cancer patients. We treat patients with all types and stages of cancer, at any point in their journey.

In keeping with the patient-centered approach at the heart of our care model, our Downtown Chicago location offers consultations, treatments and other cancer care services in an outpatient setting, delivered by a team of experts who work closely with one another to understand each patient’s individual diagnosis and needs. We discuss available treatment options and side-effect management techniques with patients and their caregivers to help them decide on an integrative treatment plan tailored specifically to them, with a commitment to quality and speed to care.

Services offered at our downtown location

Consultation services

At any point in their cancer journey, patients can call or chat with an Oncology Information Specialist to make an appointment to meet with an expert in gynecologic, medical, radiation or surgical oncology. Appointments may be available in as little as 24 hours.

After contacting us for a consultation, patients meet with an oncologist to review their medical information and answer specific questions regarding their diagnosis. The oncologist will discuss whether additional tests or scans may be required, while walking patients through the next steps in their treatment journey. Our cancer experts work with patients to develop a personalized treatment plan based on their specific cancer type and stage.

Treatment options

The Downtown Chicago location offers onsite treatment options to patients who require radiation and infusion therapy, including chemotherapy, hormone therapy and other intravenous and injectable treatments. If patients require a surgical procedure, our hospital in Zion, Illinois, is staffed by a multidisciplinary surgical oncology team led by surgeons trained and experienced in a vast array of disciplines, including breast surgery, oncoplastic reconstruction, hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy (HIPEC) and neurosurgery.

One of the unique benefits of the downtown location is that it is the only center in the Chicago city limits to offer CyberKnife radiation therapy technology. CyberKnife is a non-invasive option for some patients who have inoperable or surgically complex tumors, or who may be looking for an alternative to surgery. The CyberKnife system enables our radiation oncologists to deliver high, targeted doses of radiation to a broad range of tumors throughout the body, including in the colon, prostate, lung, brain, spine, liver, pancreas and kidney.

CTCA Chicago

Our CTCA Outpatient Care Center in Downtown Chicago is part of a national network of CTCA hospitals providing personalized, integrative care to adult patients with cancer. For patients who need additional support along their journey, our hospital in Zion, Illinois, is staffed by a multidisciplinary team of experienced doctors, Magnet®-recognized nurses and other clinicians working together in one location. Like the experts at our Downtown Chicago center, the doctors and clinicians at our comprehensive cancer hospital treat all stages of cancer, collaborating with one another to develop personalized treatment plans tailored to each patient’s individual needs.

Supportive care services

Many patients underestimate how dramatically cancer can affect them, physically and emotionally. An integrative approach to cancer care treats the disease with radiation therapy, chemotherapy, surgery and other conventional treatments, while also supporting patients’ strength, stamina and quality of life with evidence-informed therapies. At our Downtown Chicago center, patients have access to supportive care services designed to help manage this important aspect of the cancer experience, so they are better able to stay on their treatment regimens and avoid delays or interruptions.
