Medical Oncologist
Board-certified in medical oncology, internal medicine and hospice and palliative care, Debra A. Wong, MD, is an assistant professor of medical oncology and therapeutics research and the medical director of the AccessHope™ program at City of Hope® Cancer Center Duarte.
In her role with AccessHope – a program that brings the expertise of City of Hope’s renowned cancer doctors to other national comprehensive cancer centers – Dr. Wong oversees organizational development and the integration of clinical strategy. In the clinic, she works with patients with a wide range of solid tumors and is a longtime advocate for combining personalized cancer care with supportive strategies that improve patients’ quality of life.
Dr. Wong also plays a key role in leading initiatives at City of Hope that democratize value-based, high-quality cancer care for patients who receive treatment with us and for those at other cancer hospitals nationwide. Her dedication to increasing access to leading-edge care involves working closely with researchers developing innovative ways to deliver health care, with partners across the health care technology sector and with clinicians and supportive care providers.
After earning her medical degree at the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland, Dr. Wong completed her internal medicine internship at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, followed by two fellowships: one in hospice and palliative care at Cedars-Sinai and the West Los Angeles Veterans Affairs Medical Center and a second in hematology and medical oncology at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. She is also a licentiate of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons and a diplomate of the American Board of Internal Medicine.
