Debra A. Wong, MD, is an Assistant Professor of Medical Oncology and Therapeutics Research at City of Hope®. Dr. Wong spends most of her time at City of Hope’s flagship hospital in Duarte, California, but also practices at City of Hope's Scottsdale Care Center. Dr. Wong has experience in diagnosing and treating a wide range of solid tumors and is an advocate for and expert in incorporating both supportive care strategies and quality-of-life enhancements into her patients’ cancer journeys. Her compassionate, holistic approach is complemented by her deep expertise in innovative treatment options for diseases ranging from genitourinary cancers to gynecologic cancers, cutaneous malignancies and sarcoma.
In her role as Medical Director at AccessHope™, Dr. Wong also guides City of Hope’s development and clinical strategy integration, with the goal of creating better access to high-quality cancer care. In addition to being a board-certified medical oncologist and internist, Dr. Wong holds certifications in palliative and hospice medicine. She works tirelessly to ensure that individuals facing advanced-stage or complex cancer diagnoses receive expert guidance that can improve outcomes without needing to leave their homes or support networks.
Dr. Wong completed a hematology and oncology fellowship at the Mayo Clinic College of Medicine in Scottsdale, Arizona, preceded by fellowships in hospice and palliative medicine at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center and the West Los Angeles VA Medical Center, both in Los Angeles. Her internal medicine residency was completed at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, and she earned her medical degree from the Royal College of Surgeons in Dublin, Ireland.
