Services offered at our Gilbert location

Consultation services

At any point in your cancer journey, you may call or chat with an Oncology Information Specialist to schedule an appointment to meet with a medical oncologist at our Gilbert location. You may also contact the Gilbert Outpatient Care Center directly to schedule an appointment. A member of our team will then contact you to collect more information about your specific diagnosis and assist you in preparing for your visit.

During your consultation, you will meet with a doctor to review your medical information, answer specific questions regarding your diagnosis and discuss whether additional tests or scans may be required. Our care team will use this information to help develop a personalized treatment plan based on your specific cancer type and stage, as well as your individual needs and treatment goals.

Treatment options

In addition to offering medical oncology consultations, the Outpatient Care Center in Gilbert delivers onsite chemotherapy treatment. If you require an immediate surgical procedure, radiation therapy or other services or treatments, your clinical team will assist with a referral, which may include services at our comprehensive cancer center in Goodyear, Arizona. Radiation therapy services also are available at our Outpatient Care Center in North Phoenix.

Our comprehensive care center in Goodyear and all our Outpatient Care Centers are staffed with experienced teams of multidisciplinary experts who work closely to meet our patients’ individual needs.

Genetic testing and counseling

Cancer forms when the DNA inside a cell mutates, resulting in uncontrolled and abnormal cell growth. In some families, these gene mutations are handed down from one generation to the next. Genetic testing may help patients learn if their cancer resulted from an inherited gene mutation and whether they are at an increased risk for a second cancer.

As part of our offerings at the Gilbert location, Outpatient Care Center patients will have access to genetic counseling as part of our telehealth services, with trained counselors meeting with patients in scheduled video sessions to answer questions and help simplify complex concepts into understandable terms. The goal is to provide clear information about genetic risk factors, address patients’ concerns and determine whether genetic testing may be an option. If our counselors recommend testing, patients are not obligated to have the tests.

Genomic testing

Every cancer, like every patient, is different. Advanced genomic testing may help identify DNA alterations that may be driving the growth of a particular tumor. By identifying these gene mutations, we may be able to prescribe targeted therapy drugs designed specifically to counteract changes in a tumor's genomic profile. Genomic testing is not appropriate for every patient, but a medical oncologist may help determine which patients are good candidates for the assessments.
