Michael T. Christensen, MD, MBA, is a Radiation Oncologist and Assistant Professor at City of Hope® Cancer Center Phoenix, practicing at the City of Hope Cancer Care Gilbert location. He treats a wide range of cancer types, with a special interest in gynecological cancers and the use of advanced radiation techniques such as brachytherapy, stereotactic radiation and intensity-modulated radiation therapy. Dr. Christensen also provides low-dose therapeutic radiation treatments for non-cancer conditions such as osteoarthritis, helping patients reduce pain and improve mobility.
“I consider it a profound privilege to care for cancer patients as they navigate one of the most life-altering challenges they may face,” says Dr. Christensen. “It’s deeply meaningful to be entrusted with such a personal part of someone’s journey and to serve as a source of solutions and support.”
Dr. Christensen earned his medical degree at the University of Utah School of Medicine in Salt Lake City, where he was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society. He completed his internship at Riverside Community Hospital, affiliated with the University of California, Riverside. During his radiation oncology residency at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, he completed advanced training in innovative treatment modalities and technologies. He also earned a Master of Business Administration degree from the University of Texas at Dallas.

A physician-scholar and member of the American Society for Radiation Oncology (ASTRO), Dr. Christensen has authored multiple peer-reviewed publications. His academic interests include serious illness communication training and stereotactic radiation techniques.
Outside of City of Hope, he’s a golf super-fan who enjoys spending time with his wife and four children, playing pickleball and trail running.
