City of Hope Chicago, is accredited and recognized by several renowned professional health care organizations that assess and monitor the quality of cancer care.

The Joint Commission

City of Hope Chicago has earned The Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval^® for Hospital Accreditation by demonstrating continuous compliance with its performance standards. This reflects an organization’s commitment to providing safe and effective patient care and a willingness to voluntarily undergo a rigorous, unannounced onsite survey every three years.

During the review, a team of Joint Commission expert surveyors evaluate compliance with standards related to several areas, including patient rights, environment of care, infection prevention, leadership and medication management, to name a few. Surveyors also conduct onsite observations and interviews. The Joint Commission has accredited hospitals for more than 60 years.

American Society of Clinical Oncology Quality Oncology Practice Initiative

City of Hope Chicago is recognized as meeting the highest standards for quality cancer care by the Quality Oncology Practice Initiative (QOPI^�) Certification Program, an affiliate of the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO). The QOPI Certification Program (QCP^™) was launched in January 2010. The QCP seal designates those practices that not only scored high on the key QOPI quality measures but also meet rigorous chemotherapy safety standards established by ASCO and the Oncology Nursing Society (ONS).

The QOPI Certification Program is a project of ASCO's Institute for Quality, an ASCO affiliate dedicated to innovative quality improvement programs.

American College of Surgeons Surgical Quality Partner

City of Hope Cancer Center Chicago is recognized by the American College of Surgeons as a Surgical Quality Partner, reflecting a proven record of adhering to rigorous industry standards in surgical quality to reduce complications, improve outcomes and save lives. Surgical Quality Partner designation was awarded to City of Hope Chicago through participation in the Commission on Cancer (CoC) and National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers (NAPBC). CoC-accredited facilities follow strict standards for providing patients with a wide range of diagnostic, treatment and supportive services, either on-site or by referral, including community-based resources. The NAPBC focuses on the spectrum of the patient’s journey with breast cancer or breast disease, including prevention, screening, treatment and survivorship.

Certified Quality Breast Center of Excellence™

City of Hope Chicago Breast Cancer Center is the only center in Illinois, and one of fewer than 70 centers nationally, to be recognized as a Certified Quality Breast Center of Excellence^™ by the National Quality Measures for Breast Centers Program™ (NQMBC^®), and has continuously received the designation since 2013.

The National Consortium of Breast Centers uses more than 30 National Quality Indicators to evaluate breast programs in the areas of imaging, surgery, cancer registry, pathology, radiation and patient satisfaction. The Certified Quality Breast Center of Excellence is the highest certification level. The centers chosen for this designation have met the highest quality standards in breast cancer care.

American College of Radiology^® Lung Cancer Screening Center™

City of Hope Chicago has been designated a Lung Cancer Screening Center by the American College of Radiology (ACR). This designation is considered the gold standard in medical imaging and is awarded to hospitals and health care facilities that meet the requirements and protocols established by the ACR Lung Cancer Screening Committee.

ACR accreditation helps inform patients that a health care center meets the highest standards in medical imaging quality and safety. The organization reviews the facilities’ protocols, equipment, personnel and quality-assurance standards. ACR has awarded accreditation in 10 imaging modalities to more than 38,000 facilities since 1987.
