Steven T. Rosen, M.D., is the Ted Schwartz Family Distinguished Chair in Hematologic Malignancies at City of Hope® Cancer Center Duarte, where he specializes in treating blood cancers such as lymphoma and leukemia using a wide range of therapies including hematopoietic stem cell transplantation. A longtime leader in cancer care, Dr. Rosen is deeply committed to improving the lives of people facing cancer through both innovative treatment options and a compassionate approach in the clinic. He is the executive vice president and a director emeritus of both City of Hope’s flagship hospital and its Beckman Research Institute.
Before joining City of Hope, Dr. Rosen served as director of the Robert H. Lurie Comprehensive Cancer Center at Northwestern University in Chicago for more than two decades. During his time there, the center became nationally recognized and was awarded the highest level of support from the National Cancer Institute. He helped build programs that focused not only on treatment, but also on prevention, research and supportive care for patients both during and after cancer.
Throughout his career, Dr. Rosen has written more than 400 articles and book chapters on cancer research and treatment. His work has been supported by leading cancer organizations, including the National Cancer Institute, the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, and the American Cancer Society. He also serves as a trusted advisor to many cancer centers across the country.
In addition to being recognized as one of the "best doctors in America," Dr. Rosen has received honors for his leadership and compassion, including the Martin Luther King Humanitarian Award and the Man of Distinction Award from the Israel Cancer Research Fund. He earned both his undergraduate and medical degrees at Northwestern University in Chicago.
