Cancer has such a massive effect on the whole family. It is my job to listen to not only my patients, but their family, as well. I take time to answer all their questions and educate them about their cancer and treatment options available to them.

Dr. Alawin is also passionate about using today’s advances in cancer care, including genetic testing, targeted therapies and clinical trials.

“I believe we are living in the golden age of medical oncology,” says Dr. Alawin. “There have been so many changes and advancements in how we treat cancer. Since 2000, precision medicine has evolved, and hundreds of new targeted therapies have been released, helping us better target mutations. The field continues to develop, and patients will benefit from these advances in cancer treatment with better outcomes and fewer side effects.”

Dr. Alawin earned a medical degree from the University of Jordan School of Medicine in Amman, Jordan. He completed an internship in general practice from Zarqa Governmental Hospital in Zarqa, Jordan. Dr. Alawin completed a residency in internal medicine at King Hussein Cancer Center in Amman, Jordan. He then moved to the United States to further his training at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, Texas, by completing a residency in internal medicine and a fellowship in oncology.

Prior to joining CTCA, Dr. Alawin served as an oncologist in both outpatient and inpatient settings, and he has been a sub-investigator in numerous clinical trials. Dr. Alawin also teaches medical students and is a member of the American Society of Clinical Oncology.

Outside of CTCA, Dr. Alawin enjoys spending time with his wife and two young daughters. Together, they enjoy watching movies, going to the park and traveling.
