Ovarian cancer care

DISCOVER OUR DIFFERENCE IN PERSONALIZED CANCER TREATMENT

Ovarian cancer is a complex disease that requires expert, specialized care.
At City of Hope, we work with each ovarian cancer patient to develop a comprehensive treatment plan personalized to her individual needs, goals and preferences. Our gynecologic oncologists are trained and experienced in all stages of ovarian cancer, from diagnosing the disease, to treating it and managing its side effects, to supporting patients in survivorship. Your treatment plan may include chemotherapy, immunotherapy and/or hormone therapy, as well supportive care strategies designed to help manage side effects like fatigue, nausea and neuropathy.

Cancer Treatment Centers of America® (CTCA) is now City of Hope®, joining forces to expand patient access to personalized, comprehensive cancer care.

How are we different?

Gynecologic cancer focus

Ovarian cancer is such an important focus at City of Hope that each of our hospitals has a Gynecologic Cancer Center dedicated to treating patients with all types and stages of the disease. The multidisciplinary teams at each of our centers are singularly focused on diagnosing and treating gynecologic cancers using standard-of-care and, when appropriate, innovative precision medicine treatments. We also offer fertility-sparing options, when necessary and appropriate, for women who want to preserve their ability to have children

Comprehensive team approach

Your ovarian cancer care team works all under one roof. That means you have access to state-of-the-art cancer treatments and supportive care therapies all in one place. Your team is led by a fellowship-trained gynecologic oncologist, and your treatment plan is coordinated by a care manager dedicated to organizing your schedule, communicating with the rest of your care team, getting your questions answered and helping you access your test results in a timely manner. Your care team may also include a medical, surgical and/or radiation oncologist, a genetic counselor, an interventional pathologist, oncology nurses and a variety of supportive care clinicians, including a pelvic floor therapist.

Whole-person care

Our doctors work with supportive care providers to deliver evidence-informed strategies designed to address the symptoms of ovarian cancer and the side effects of treatment. Some ovarian cancer patients experience gastrointestinal symptoms, issues with sexual function and neuropathy. Our patients have the option of meeting with an oncology-trained dietitian, who may recommend a personalized nutrition plan to address gastrointestinal issues; a pelvic floor therapist, who can help manage sexual dysfunction; and oncology rehabilitation therapist to help reduce pain from nerve damage. The goal of supportive care is to keep you strong so you can better tolerate your treatments and maintain your quality of life.

Access to clinical trials

Clinical trials are critical tools researchers and doctors use to determine the safety and effectiveness of new drugs and therapies. At City of Hope, we are committed to offering our patients innovative and new cancer treatments, including access to clinical trials when appropriate. These studies may offer otherwise unavailable options for qualified patients who have exhausted conventional treatment options or whose cancer is advanced or difficult to treat. Our cancer doctors and researchers will work with you to determine whether you qualify for a trial and, if so, help you enroll in one that’s right for you.
