YunZu (Michele) Wang, MD is an assistant professor of pediatrics with expertise in blood cancers, Drawn to medicine because it allowed her to merge her love of science with a passion for improving the lives of children, Dr. Wang works with young patients at City of Hope® Cancer Center Duarte who need treatment for a range of hematologic malignancies, often requiring bone marrow transplantation or gene therapy.
Dr. Wang earned her medical degree at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, Missouri. She then completed a pediatrics internship and residency, as well as a fellowship in hematology-oncology, at the University of California, San Diego/Rady Children’s Hospital. She went on to pursue advanced training in pediatric bone marrow transplantation at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center in Ohio, where she also held faculty positions.
Alongside her clinical work with patients, Dr. Wang has contributed to her specialty through numerous publications in peer-reviewed journals such as the Journal of Clinical Investigation and Blood Advances. She has also led several research projects as a principal investigator on funded grants.
