About Me

Xiomara Rocha-Cadman, M.D., is chief of the Division of Psychiatry and an associate clinical professor in the Department of Supportive Care Medicine at City of Hope®.

Raised in Nicaragua, Dr. Rocha-Cadman was drawn to medicine by her passion for learning and caring for people as whole individuals. After her sister was diagnosed with cancer at age 26, she chose to specialize in psychiatry and psycho-oncology to help ease the emotional and psychological burden cancer places on patients and their families.

Dr. Rocha-Cadman earned her medical degree from the Universidad Autónoma de Guadalajara in Mexico and completed her psychiatry residency at Lincoln Medical and Mental Health Center in affiliation with Weill Cornell Medical College. She went on to complete a fellowship in consultation-liaison psychiatry and psycho-oncology at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, where she later joined the faculty and worked closely with the Stem Cell Transplant Department.

At City of Hope, Dr. Rocha-Cadman provides bedside psychotherapy, with a special focus on stem cell transplant patients, Spanish-speaking patients and end-of-life care. She also leads and supports programs focused on caregiver, trainee and staff well-being, including Death and Dying Debriefing Rounds. She chairs the Well-Being Committee and serves on the Ethics Committee.

Dr. Rocha-Cadman is a member of the International and American Psycho-Oncology Societies and collaborates with colleagues in Latin America and Spain. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her family, running and hiking and has completed seven marathons to raise funds for cancer, hospice and suicide awareness.

Patient reviews
The patient ratings and comments on this page are obtained from an external Press Ganey® outpatient survey provided to all eligible City of Hope patients within one to two weeks of their treatment occurrence. Raw data from the answers to the survey questions about our physicians are calculated by Press Ganey into a one- to five- star rating. In the spirit of transparency, all patient comments are posted as written by the patient, whether they are positive or negative. We only exclude comments if they are deemed to be slanderous or libelous, contain profanity or vulgar language, or do not relate to the patient's experience with the doctor involved. As a result, the comments are the views and opinions of the patients surveyed and are not endorsed by, and may not necessarily reflect the opinion of, City of Hope.
