Diagnostic Radiologist; Professor, Department of Diagnostic Radiology, City of Hope Cancer Center Duarte
William D. Boswell, M.D., is a diagnostic radiologist at City of Hope® Cancer Center Duarte with decades of experience in cancer imaging. He completed medical school at Thomas Jefferson University, Jefferson Medical College and went on to finish an internship and residency in diagnostic radiology as well as a fellowship in vascular radiology at Los Angeles County+USC Medical Center.
Before joining City of Hope, Dr. Boswell spent many years at the Keck School of Medicine of USC, where he served in several leadership roles, including professor of clinical radiology and urology, associate chair of radiology and chief of diagnostic radiology at USC Norris Cancer Hospital. He also acted as chief of staff at USC Norris and served on the Medical Executive Committee for nearly three decades.
Dr. Boswell has been actively involved in improving health care across Los Angeles County through committee and board service and has contributed to national discussions on telemedicine and telehealth. His research focuses on imaging for urologic and blood cancers, as well as cancer imaging more broadly. He has published extensively, delivered presentations around the world and led multiple research grants funded by the National Cancer Institute, National Library of Medicine, USDA and other foundations. At City of Hope, he previously served as chair of Diagnostic Radiology (2011–2023) and president of the City of Hope Medical Group (2013–2023).
