About Me

Violetta Karpova, M.D., is a board-certified radiologist with specialized fellowship training in breast and body imaging. At City of Hope® Cancer Center Duarte, she focuses on breast and abdominopelvic imaging, interpreting mammograms (including 3D tomosynthesis), breast ultrasound, breast MRI and abdominal and pelvic MRI, CT, and ultrasound exams. She also performs a wide range of image-guided breast interventional procedures — such as ultrasound-, MRI- and stereotactic-guided biopsies and localization procedures — to help surgeons plan the most precise treatment.

“I value breast imaging because it allows me to detect disease early and support patients using minimally invasive diagnostic and interventional tools,” Dr. Karpova says. She is dedicated to patient-centered, compassionate care and often speaks with patients directly after their imaging exam to explain results and next steps, helping ease anxiety. Her interests include breast cancer screening and promoting the importance of early detection through mammography.

Dr. Karpova earned her medical degree from the Medical College of Wisconsin and completed a diagnostic radiology residency at St. Luke’s Medical Center. She then pursued advanced training through an MRI/ultrasound body imaging fellowship at Rush University Medical Center and a combined breast and body imaging fellowship at Stanford Medical Center.

An active member of several professional societies — including the American College of Radiology and the Society of Breast Imaging — Dr. Karpova is proud to be part of City of Hope’s multidisciplinary team, working closely with breast surgeons, oncologists and pathologists to provide comprehensive, coordinated care.

Patient reviews
The patient ratings and comments on this page are obtained from an external Press Ganey® outpatient survey provided to all eligible City of Hope patients within one to two weeks of their treatment occurrence. Raw data from the answers to the survey questions about our physicians are calculated by Press Ganey into a one- to five- star rating. In the spirit of transparency, all patient comments are posted as written by the patient, whether they are positive or negative. We only exclude comments if they are deemed to be slanderous or libelous, contain profanity or vulgar language, or do not relate to the patient's experience with the doctor involved. As a result, the comments are the views and opinions of the patients surveyed and are not endorsed by, and may not necessarily reflect the opinion of, City of Hope.
