Vincent Louie Mendiola, M.D., M.P.H., M.Sc., is a medical oncologist and hematologist with a strong background in research and public health. At City of Hope® Santa Clarita, he listens to patients so he can fully understand their values, concerns and goals, and develops personalized treatment plans based on a physician-patient partnership. He’s motivated by the rapid progress happening in cancer care and is passionate about bringing those benefits directly to his patients.
Dr. Mendiola is committed to improving treatment outcomes by combining high-quality clinical care with research and public health knowledge — especially when it comes to reducing disparities in cancer care. His 15 peer-reviewed scientific papers have shown that minorities with an aggressive form of leukemia can achieve the same outcomes as others when they receive equal access to all current standards of care and new therapies. He has also engaged in health outreach programs in the Philippines and Nicaragua and was honored by the Department of Health for designing a mobile clinic for the HIV/STD Prevention Program while earning his Master of Public Health at the University of Miami.
Outside of work, Dr. Mendiola enjoys food from different cultures and playing basketball.
