Hematologist-Oncologist
As a survivor of childhood acute lymphoblastic leukemia, Vaibhav Agrawal, M.D., M.B.A., has a longstanding and deeply personal connection to both cancer care and City of Hope. Starting in high school and continuing through college, Dr. Agrawal spent his summers conducting research in City of Hope’s labs, excited about the potential of pursuing a career in hematology and oncology. He later returned to the institution during medical school to study bone marrow transplantation.
Dr. Agrawal earned his medical degree at Chicago Medical School, then went on to complete his residency at Geisinger Medical Center in Danville, Pennsylvania. He pursued fellowships at both Indiana University in Bloomington and Stanford University in California. His current research is focused on enhancing the success of stem cell transplants and reducing the risk of graft-versus-host disease – a common side effect of stem cell transplantation
In addition to his medical degree, Dr. Agrawal also holds a master’s in business administration with a focus on health care law, administration and management.
