Trilokesh D. Kidambi, MD, is a gastroenterologist, the medical director of ambulatory services and the director of the Colon Cancer Screening Program at City of Hope® Cancer Center Duarte.
Dr. Kidamibi specializes in both general digestive health and cancer prevention, with a focus on screening for colorectal cancer. He also has a particular interest in helping patients with a family history of gastrointestinal cancers, including those with inherited conditions like Lynch syndrome and familial adenomatous polyposis, ensuring they receive timely and accurate preventive care.
In addition to treating common digestive disorders, Dr. Kidambi also cares for patients experiencing side effects from cancer treatments. This includes conditions like graft-versus-host disease after stem cell transplants and inflammation of the colon or intestines caused by immunotherapy. He performs advanced procedures, including ERCP, a test for the bile and pancreatic ducts, and enteral stenting, which helps open blocked areas in the digestive tract.
Dr. Kidambi’s research includes work in the field of colon cancer prevention, improving endoscopy procedures and the use of precision medicine in gastroenterological care. He has published many research articles in respected medical journals and his work has been recognized with awards and scholarships from the American Gastroenterology Association and the American College of Gastroenterology.
After discovering his passion for medical research as a teenager while participating in a summer research program at City of Hope, Dr. Kidambi went on to receive his medical degree from the Feinberg School of Medicine at Northwestern University in Chicago. He completed his internal medicine residency and gastroenterology fellowship at the University of California, San Francisco, where he received advanced training in treating complex digestive conditions and inherited cancer syndromes.
Since joining City of Hope, Dr. Kidambi has played a major role in expanding the gastroenterology program and working closely with cancer specialists to provide comprehensive care. He led the effort for the endoscopy unit to earn national recognition for quality from the American Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy.
