Tommy Sheu, M.D., M.P.H., is a board-certified radiation oncologist and assistant professor in the Department of Radiation Oncology at City of Hope®. Through a partnership between City of Hope and Providence, he cares for patients at St. Jude Medical Center in Fullerton, where he also serves as co-medical director for radiation oncology.
Dr. Sheu has published research on many types of cancer, focusing on treatment outcomes and cost effectiveness, and has contributed chapters to textbooks in clinical radiation oncology. He treats a wide range of cancers — including those of the skin, head and neck, brain and spine, lung, gastrointestinal system, urinary tract, breast and soft tissue, as well as certain blood cancers — using highly precise radiation technologies such as SRS, SBRT, VMAT, SGRT and IGRT. He’s also helping expand brachytherapy and the theranostics program at St. Jude to offer patients even more treatment options.
Dr. Sheu earned his medical degree from Baylor College of Medicine and a Master of Public Health from the University of Texas School of Public Health. He completed his internal medicine internship at the University of Hawaii, followed by a radiation oncology residency at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center.
“City of Hope has a deep bench of highly experienced radiation oncologists, many of whom are leaders in their fields. I’m grateful to collaborate with this team to bring the highest level of care to my patients,” he says.
