About Me

Thanh Doan, M.D., a medical oncologist specializing in breast cancer at City of Hope® Cancer Center Duarte, believes in caring for each patient with the same compassion and attention she would want for her own family. She feels honored to play a role in improving people’s lives and finds inspiration in the ongoing advances in oncology. 

Dr. Doan was drawn to City of Hope by the genuine sense of hope patients experience, supported by a team of caring and dedicated experts. Alongside her clinical work, she is involved in research and contributes to online educational programs for health care providers. She also supports underserved youth by encouraging their interest in medical careers and serves as a mentor. Her passion for helping others has taken her on medical mission trips to Ecuador and Haiti. 

Outside of work, Dr. Doan enjoys playing tennis, hiking, photography, and expressing her creativity through drawing and painting.

"I think it would be really good if Dr. Doan would remember something vital about my medical history, and that is that I do NOT have a uterus. It seems a little odd to me that I have had to remind her of that fact various times already. This concerns me because she operates sometimes as if I have a uterus - like suggesting birth control for sex. Or making routine pregnancy tests part of my labs."

"I understand that many providers have different ways of interacting with their clients. Dr. Doan is thorough but she looks at the computer screen while she talks to me. I am hard of hearing but can read lips. Occasionally she turns and talks to me. She is fine except for that."

I feel very fortunate to have Dr Doan treating me for all the setbacks cancer has caused me. She is always ready to help me, or refer me to a specialist who can treat my issue."
