About Me

Swetha Kambhampati Thiruvengadam, M.D., views her role as a physician as the ideal way to merge her deep interest in science with her dedication to helping others. As a hematologist-oncologist specializing in lymphoma at City of Hope® Cancer Center Duarte, Dr. Thiruvengadam provides individualized, compassionate care for patients centered on innovative treatments including immunotherapies, CAR T cell therapy and stem cell transplants. Her research focuses on the development of novel immunotherapies and targeted treatments for both non-Hodgkin and Hodgkin lymphoma and she leads multiple leading-edge clinical trials in lymphoma that seek to use biomarkers to offer more personalized treatment options. 

Dr. Thiruvengadam earned her medical degree from Stanford University in California, followed by internal medicine residency training at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore and a hematology/oncology fellowship at the University of California, San Francisco. She then completed an advanced lymphoma fellowship at City of Hope. She has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications in renowned journals like Blood, British Journal of Hematology and Blood Cancer Journal. Her accolades include the American Society of Clinical Oncology’s Young Investigator Award, Conquer Cancer Merit Award and selection as a Scholar for both the American Society of Hematology Clinical Research Training Institute and the Lymphoma Research Foundation. 

Outside of her clinical work, Dr. Thiruvengadam enjoys singing, traveling, hiking and spending quality time with her family.
