In 2021, Dr. Shaun Boyes joined Cancer Treatment Centers of America® (CTCA) as a pathologist. From a young age, Dr. Boyes knew he wanted to become a doctor to help others. His family worked in health care, and he loved studying science. Dr. Boyes’ passion eventually became his career. At CTCA® Dr. Boyes is dedicated to advancing the diagnosis of cancer and helping each patient’s oncologist recommend personalized cancer treatments.

Dr. Boyes works with the laboratory team at the Chicago hospital to complete and review laboratory tests. These tests help the care team diagnose and stage cancer, plan treatments, monitor disease, review treatment progress and evaluate patient health. Dr. Boyes has a specific interest in surgical pathology, as well as molecular pathology.

“I apply advanced diagnostic techniques and utilize state-of-the-art laboratory diagnostic tools to accurately provide testing results,” says Dr. Boyes. “Identifying and classifying cancer types is a vital component of the CTCA multidisciplinary approach to patient care.”

Dr. Boyes completed his bachelor’s degree in chemistry and biology at Loyola University in Chicago, Illinois. He worked for several years as a specimen processor in anatomic pathology for an Illinois community hospital. He then completed a medical degree from the Rush Medical College in Chicago, Illinois. Following medical school, he completed an anatomic and clinical pathology residency and fellowship in surgical pathology at Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood, Illinois.

Through ongoing education and training, Dr. Boyes stays up to date on new technologies and advanced diagnostic options. He is a member of several professional organizations including the United States and Canadian Academy of Pathology, College of American Pathologists, Chicago Pathology Society and the American Society for Clinical Pathology.

Outside of work, Dr. Boyes enjoys time with his wife and family.
Patient ratings
Star ratings and comments are only available for medical, radiation and gynecologic oncologists. Gynecologic surgical offerings are not included at this time due to a different survey tool required to evaluate these services. CTCA uses a validated Press Ganey® survey, which captures patient experience feedback for the primary oncology services of chemotherapy and radiation therapy at our comprehensive care and research centers. Following industry best practice, star ratings and comments are only published for physicians with a minimum of 30 completed patient surveys.
