Seyma Saritoprak, Ph.D., is a specialist in psychosocial oncology, a field that helps patients and families cope with the emotional, social and behavioral challenges that can come with a cancer diagnosis.
Dr. Saritoprak is an assistant clinical professor in the Department of Supportive Care Medicine at City of Hope® Orange County Lennar Foundation Cancer Center and Sand Canyon. She chose to join City of Hope because of its strong commitment to evidence-based supportive care programs that improve quality of life, reduce complications and help patients spend less time in the hospital. As a national leader, City of Hope is working to make supportive care a standard part of cancer treatment everywhere.
Before coming to City of Hope, Dr. Saritoprak worked as a clinical psychologist at CBT California, a leading center for cognitive behavioral therapy. She also trained at several top institutions, including Cleveland Clinic and Louis Stokes Cleveland VA Medical Center. She has experience providing one-on-one and group therapy, as well as supporting patients before and after surgery. She often works with adults managing cancer and other chronic health conditions.
Dr. Saritoprak earned her doctorate degree in clinical psychology from Case Western Reserve University in Ohio. She completed advanced training through an APA-accredited predoctoral internship in health and behavior at UCLA and a postdoctoral fellowship in health psychology at Cleveland Clinic.
She takes a team-based approach to care, working closely with doctors, nurses and other specialists to support patients’ healing and help prevent further illness. Dedicated to serving people from diverse backgrounds, Dr. Saritoprak is also fluent in Turkish.
