At City of Hope® Cancer Center Duarte, Samina Qamar, M.D., specializes in the complex and compassionate field of palliative medicine, focusing on improving her patients’ physical comfort and emotional well-being. She has explored a wide range of interventions — from chemotherapy and pain management to music therapy and positive thinking — to help enhance quality of life for those facing serious illness.
Dr. Qamar earned her medical degree from Fatima Jinnah Medical College for Women in Pakistan. She completed her internship and residency at The Brooklyn Hospital Center and Cornell University & Weill Medical College, followed by a fellowship in hospice and palliative care at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio.
Before joining City of Hope, Dr. Qamar conducted research in renal and bladder cancer at the University of California, San Francisco–Fresno. She was drawn to City of Hope for its supportive environment, research opportunities and unwavering commitment to high-quality patient care.
