About Me

Samantha DeBerry, DNP, FN-BC, is an advanced practice-certified Nurse Practitioner at City of Hope® Cancer Care Downtown Chicago, where she works closely with patients with a wide range of cancer types and stages and at every point in their cancer journeys.

DeBerry was inspired to pursue a career in cancer care after being diagnosed with a blood disorder during middle school.

“Ever since my experience with my team of nurses, doctors and advanced practice providers, I knew I wanted to work in oncology and care for patients like those who I met during my time as a hematology/oncology patient myself,” she recalls.

DeBerry received her bachelor’s degree in nursing from Resurrection University in Chicago, Illinois, in 2014. She then worked as a hematology-oncology nurse, caring for both adult and pediatric patients at two Chicago-area institutions. After earning her Doctorate in Nursing Practice and Advanced Practice training, she continued to work at a Chicago institution before moving to Arizona and working for Arizona Oncology in Goodyear and Mayo Clinic Arizona, where she focused on breast and gynecological oncology. She joined City of Hope in 2025 as a medical oncology nurse practitioner.

“Oncology is truly my passion, and knowing that City of Hope is focused on oncology patient care and research was very important to me,” says DeBerry.

As an oncology nurse practitioner, DeBerry is committed to providing patient-centered, compassionate and exceptional care to cancer patients that supports their physical and emotional health throughout treatment and beyond.

Outside of City of Hope, DeBerry enjoys traveling, cooking and baking, spending time with friends and family, and doing pure barre.

Patient reviews
The patient ratings and comments on this page are obtained from an external Press Ganey® outpatient survey provided to all eligible City of Hope patients within one to two weeks of their treatment occurrence. Raw data from the answers to the survey questions about our physicians are calculated by Press Ganey into a one- to five- star rating. In the spirit of transparency, all patient comments are posted as written by the patient, whether they are positive or negative. We only exclude comments if they are deemed to be slanderous or libelous, contain profanity or vulgar language, or do not relate to the patient's experience with the doctor involved. As a result, the comments are the views and opinions of the patients surveyed and are not endorsed by, and may not necessarily reflect the opinion of, City of Hope.
