Raju K. Pillai, MD, is an associate clinical professor of pathology at City of Hope® Cancer Center Duarte. His expertise spans hematopathology, molecular pathology and pathology bioinformatics, and he serves as both the medical director of the Pathology Research Services Core and a member of the Toni Stephenson Lymphoma Center.
Before joining City of Hope, Dr. Pillai served at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles as a hematopathologist and molecular pathologist, as well as the medical director of Pathology Bioinformatics. He earned his medical degree and completed his internship at Calicut Medical College in Kozhikode, India. He then went on to complete his residency in anatomic and clinical pathology at the University of Southern California in Los Angeles, followed by dual fellowships in molecular genetic pathology and hematopathology at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center in Philadelphia.
Dr. Pillai’s research focuses on the molecular mechanisms driving lymphomas and leukemias and the integration of multi-omic technologies into diagnostic pathology. Board certified in anatomic and clinical pathology, molecular genetic pathology and hematopathology, he is an active member of several professional organizations and has more than 35 peer-reviewed papers, abstracts and book chapters to his name.
