About Me

Dr. Priya Vishnubhotla joined City of Hope in April 2023 as the Chief of Medical Oncology at City of Hope Atlanta, working closely with a multidisciplinary team to treat patients with a variety of types and stages of cancer and leveraging her specific expertise in breast cancer and hematologic malignancies. She brings to City of Hope nearly two decades of experience as a Hematologist/Oncologist and many years of leadership experience, including nearly a decade with the Orlando Veterans Administration Healthcare System (Orlando VAHCS), which she served as both Chief of Medicine and, in inaugurating the system’s oncology program, as its Chief of Hematology and Oncology.

Dr. Vishnubhotla is well published on topics ranging from targeting cytotoxic peptides to tumor vasculature and cancer cytopathology. Her clinical areas of interest include breast cancer, hematologic malignancies, antibody-drug conjugates and clinical research.

“My role is to objectively define the goal for each of my patients and be their advocate throughout their cancer journey,” says Dr. Vishnubhotla. “Communication in this role is the key, not only with the patient but with the entire care team.”

After completing her medical degree at Madras Medical College in Madras, India, Dr. Vishnubhotla went on to complete her residency in internal medicine at Wayne State University School of Medicine/Sinai-Grace Hospital in Detroit, Michigan. She later completed her fellowship in hematology and oncology at Karmanos Cancer Institute at Wayne State University School of Medicine in Detroit, Michigan. Dr. Vishnubhotla is board certified in hematology and oncology by the American Board of Hematology and the American Board of Oncology and in internal medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine.

Dr. Vishnubhotla first gained experience with the U.S. hospital system 25 years ago, during an abroad program while studying medicine in India. The experience inspired her to pursue her residency in the United States, where she fell in love with oncology. “I believe I was destined to be a medical oncologist,” she says, after spending nearly 20 years fulfilling her dream.

Outside of City of Hope, Dr. Vishnubhotla is a mother of two grown children who enjoys performing classical Indian dance with her daughter.

Patient ratings
Star ratings and comments are only available for medical, radiation and gynecologic oncologists. Gynecologic surgical offerings are not included at this time due to a different survey tool required to evaluate these services. CTCA uses a validated Press Ganey® survey, which captures patient experience feedback for the primary oncology services of chemotherapy and radiation therapy at our comprehensive care and research centers. Following industry best practice, star ratings and comments are only published for physicians with a minimum of 30 completed patient surveys.
