Endocrinologist
Driven by a deep interest in the complex workings of the endocrine system and her commitment to helping others, Pooja Manroa, M.D., decided to pursue a career in medicine. As an endocrinologist and the site director for the Endocrinology Diabetes and Metabolism Fellowship Program at City of Hope® Cancer Center Duarte, Dr. Manroa aligns her compassionate, innovative clinical practice with City of Hope’s mission to deliver exceptional care for every patient.
Dr. Manroa began her medical education in Mumbai, India, before completing her residency in internal medicine at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation in Ohio. Her specialized training continued at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center in Pennsylvania, where she completed a fellowship in endocrinology, diabetes and metabolism, with a particular emphasis on thyroid diseases. During her time there, she also served as clinical director of the thyroid unit.
An expert in managing a wide range of endocrine conditions, Dr. Manroa is board certified in both internal medicine and endocrinology and holds additional certifications in performing and interpreting office-based thyroid and lymph node ultrasounds, ultrasound-guided biopsies and bone-density scans. In addition to her clinical practice, she has played a key role in multidisciplinary thyroid care, mentoring fellows and conducting research aimed at improving how thyroid nodules are evaluated before surgery. Her dedication to public health includes volunteer work in India on initiatives such as polio eradication, tuberculosis treatment and school health and immunization programs.
Fluent in English and Hindi and conversational in Punjabi and Urdu, Dr. Manroa emphasizes a collaborative approach to care that ensures treatment plans reflect both the latest medical advances and each individual’s unique needs.
