Hematologist-Oncologist
Highly regarded by his patients and with more than 40 years’ experience in his field, Peter Curtin, MD, is a hematologist-oncologist with a focus on leukemia at City of Hope® Cancer Center Duarte. A two-time “Top Doctor” honoree, Dr. Curtin views City of Hope as an ideal environment to continue his life’s work.

After completing his undergraduate studies at Harvard University, Dr. Curtin earned his medical degree from SUNY Upstate Medical College in Syracuse, New York. He completed his training at North Carolina Memorial Hospital in Chapel Hill and the University of California, San Francisco. Before coming to City of Hope, he served for 13 years as clinical director of the Blood & Marrow Transplantation Division at the University of California, San Diego.
Dr. Curtin credits his father, an orthopedic surgeon, with inspiring his career in medicine: “He loved being in the clinic and operating room, teaching trainees, and, most of all, helping patients heal. I knew early on that I wanted to do the same.”
His research focuses on advancing therapies and improving outcomes for acute leukemia and myelodysplastic syndromes.
