“My goal for my patients is to incorporate genomic studies into personalized care plans, provide compassionate care, build long-term relationships and be available for them and their families throughout their treatment journey,” Dr. Zawit says.

After earning his medical degree at the Jordan University of Science and Technology in Irbid, Jordan, Dr. Zawit completed a residency in internal medicine at Mercy Hospital and Medical Center in Chicago and a fellowship in hematology and medical oncology at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center in Ohio. He also holds a master's degree in public health from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health.

In his clinical practice, Dr. Zawit helps patients with myeloid malignancies manage their disease using targeted therapies . He also has expertise in both bone marrow transplantation and cellular therapies such as CAR T-cell therapy  and bispecific antibodies. He has published more than a dozen peer-reviewed articles and is a member of the American College of Physicians, the American Society of Hematology, the American Society for Transplantation and Cellular Therapy and the American Society of Clinical Oncology.

In his free time, Dr. Zawit enjoys traveling, cooking and playing tennis.

Patient reviews
The patient ratings and comments on this page are obtained from an external Press Ganey® outpatient survey provided to all eligible City of Hope patients within one to two weeks of their treatment occurrence. Raw data from the answers to the survey questions about our physicians are calculated by Press Ganey into a one- to five- star rating. In the spirit of transparency, all patient comments are posted as written by the patient, whether they are positive or negative. We only exclude comments if they are deemed to be slanderous or libelous, contain profanity or vulgar language, or do not relate to the patient's experience with the doctor involved. As a result, the comments are the views and opinions of the patients surveyed and are not endorsed by, and may not necessarily reflect the opinion of, City of Hope.

"My experience has been as a potential stem cell donor. Everything regarding my care has been outstanding up to this point, as has the care for both my sister and my mother. My sister is being treated for leukemia, hence the stem cell need. My mother is now being treated for lung cancer. City of Hope has done just what is In the name - helped give all of us hope in a difficult time. I am truly grateful."
