Michael Lao, M.D., is a urologic surgeon at City of Hope® Antelope Valley and Santa Clarita, where he helps patients diagnosed with issues related to fertility, sexual health and genitourinary reconstruction. He chose to join City of Hope because it offered him the chance to deliver exceptional care to patients and build long-lasting relationships that make a difference in their lives.
Dr. Lao has expertise in a wide range of surgical approaches, including many robotic surgery techniques. He approaches his work with empathy and respect, understanding that these concerns can deeply affect a person’s quality of life, and he recognizes that it is a privilege to care for people facing personal challenges.
Dr. Lao earned his medical degree from Albany Medical College in New York state, then went on to complete his surgical and urology residencies at the University of Connecticut in Farmington. He received advanced fellowship training at The Smith Institute for Urology, which is part of the North Shore Health System in New Hyde Park, New York.
