Maung Myo Htut, MD, is a hematologist at City of Hope® Cancer Center Duarte and is passionate about improving care for people with multiple myeloma, a rare type of blood cancer that affects about 30,000 people in the United States each year, employing some of the latest approaches to care including immune-system-based treatments and CAR T cell therapy.
Dr. Htut was born and raised in Myanmar (Burma), where he earned his medical degree from the Institute of Medicine in Yangon. He began his medical training at Yangon General Hospital, then moved to the United States to complete his residency at Harbor Hospital in Baltimore. He later completed advanced training in hematology and oncology at the University of Colorado in Boulder and at City of Hope.
As a blood cancers specialist at City of Hope, Dr. Htut is leading several clinical trials that explore how immunotherapy can be used more effectively to treat multiple myeloma. Having spent over a decade at City of Hope, he sees it as the ideal place to combine innovative research with compassionate, expert care for his patients.
