About Me

Lihong Wu, M.D., was inspired to pursue a career in medicine after spending time during her childhood with her father, a doctor who cared deeply for his patients. When she was just 8 years old, Dr. Wu lost her grandfather to liver cancer, sparking a lifelong commitment to helping people fight cancer. Today, Dr. Wu is known for her dedication to her patients and her determination to find the most effective treatments for each individual in her role as medical oncologist and hematologist at City of Hope® Long Beach Worsham.

Dr. Wu completed her medical education at Shanghai Medical University in China and continued her training in internal medicine at Brookdale University, followed by a fellowship in hematology and oncology at New York Medical College, both in New York state. She is fluent in Mandarin and believes that speaking more than one language allows her to better connect with her patients.

Outside of work, Dr. Wu stays active through activities like hiking, tai qi and yoga and she has run marathons with other City of Hope colleagues. She also enjoys spending time with her children and family.

Patient reviews
The patient ratings and comments on this page are obtained from an external Press Ganey® outpatient survey provided to all eligible City of Hope patients within one to two weeks of their treatment occurrence. Raw data from the answers to the survey questions about our physicians are calculated by Press Ganey into a one- to five- star rating. In the spirit of transparency, all patient comments are posted as written by the patient, whether they are positive or negative. We only exclude comments if they are deemed to be slanderous or libelous, contain profanity or vulgar language, or do not relate to the patient's experience with the doctor involved. As a result, the comments are the views and opinions of the patients surveyed and are not endorsed by, and may not necessarily reflect the opinion of, City of Hope.
