Medical oncologist Leah Naghi, MD, brings her passion for genetics and precision medicine to her work as breast cancer specialist at City of Hope® Cancer Center Duarte. Dr. Naghi believes in ensuring her patients are active partners in shaping their care while building meaningful connections with them throughout their cancer journey.
Dr. Naghi earned her medical degree at the University of Southern California in Los Angeles, before completing her residency in internal medicine at Montefiore Medical Center in New York City. She then joined City of Hope for fellowship training in hematology and medical oncology, serving as chief fellow. She also completed City of Hope’s Intensive Course in Genetic Cancer Risk Assessment.
Her research explores hereditary cancer risk and the impact of genetic testing guidelines across diverse populations. She has studied mutation patterns in patients with blood cancers and outcomes in breast cancer patients with genetic mutations. While working in the lab of the founding director of City of Hope’s Center for Precision Medicine, she presented findings on expanded screening for women after multiplex gene panel testing at the 2022 San Antonio Breast Cancer Symposium. She has also shared her research at international conferences.
