Gynecologic Oncologist
Laurie Brunette, M.D., is a board-certified gynecologic oncologist at City of Hope® Cancer Center Duarte, where she specializes in using advanced cancer surgery techniques—such as surgical cytoreduction and minimally invasive approaches such as robotic-assisted and fertility-sparing procedures—to treat a wide range of women’s cancers. Dr. Brunette also offers comprehensive systemic therapies, including chemotherapy, immunotherapy and targeted therapies.
A physician scholar, Dr. Brunette has authored or cowritten numerous scientific publications, book chapters and conference presentations, with a research focus on early detection and screening for gynecologic malignancies including ovarian, vulvar, cervical and endometrial cancer. She is committed to integrating the latest innovations in diagnostics and therapeutics into individualized care plans for her patients.
Prior to joining City of Hope, Dr. Brunette was an assistant professor of clinical obstetrics and gynecology at the University of Southern California (USC) in Los Angeles, where she also led the Gynecologic Oncology Fellowship Program. She holds multiple teaching accolades, including the 2019 Earl Henriksen Award for Outstanding Attending Physician and the 2022 Lester T. Hibbard, MD Award for exceptional contributions to obstetric-gynecologic resident training.
Dr. Brunette earned her medical degree from the Keck School of Medicine at USC, receiving the Order of Areté, the university’s most prestigious graduate student award. She completed her residency at the University of California, Los Angeles, followed by a fellowship in gynecologic oncology at USC. During her training, Dr. Brunette also took part in a medical mission to Uganda, where she collaborated with gynecologic surgeons to perform complex urinary fistula repairs.
