Kristie Buchanan joined Cancer Treatment Centers of America® (CTCA), Atlanta. As a Nurse Practitioner in the Intensive Care Unit, Buchanan is focused on helping patients recover from critical illness.

Buchanan began her career at CTCA® as a registered nurse in February 2015. She continued her education and received a certification as an adult-gerontology acute care nurse practitioner from the American Nurses Credentialing Center. In October 2016, she transitioned into her current role. Buchanan works with an integrative team to actively monitor and treat acutely ill patients facing life-threatening conditions.

Buchanan is involved in taking care of patients recovering from a critical illness or surgery. “As a team member in the ICU, I am highly aware of everything that is going on with my patients,” says Buchanan. “I actively monitor and work closely with my patients to anticipate and manage symptoms and side effects. My hope is to improve their quality of life and help them meet their healthcare goals.”

Buchanan earned a Bachelor of Science degree in nursing from Chamberlain College of Nursing in Downers Grove, Illinois. She went on to earn a master’s degree in science focused on nurse practitioner studies from Walden University in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

Outside of CTCA, Buchanan loves to travel with her husband and enjoys spending time with her children, grandchildren and her three dogs.

Patient ratings
Star ratings and comments are only available for medical, radiation and gynecologic oncologists. Gynecologic surgical offerings are not included at this time due to a different survey tool required to evaluate these services. CTCA uses a validated Press Ganey® survey, which captures patient experience feedback for the primary oncology services of chemotherapy and radiation therapy at our comprehensive care and research centers. Following industry best practice, star ratings and comments are only published for physicians with a minimum of 30 completed patient surveys.
