About Me

Karl Gaal, M.D., is a hematopathologist and surgical pathologist at City of Hope® Cancer Center Duarte, where he has worked closely with patients’ multidisciplinary cancer care teams to ensure accurate and timely diagnoses.

Dr. Gaal earned his medical degree from the University of California, Davis, then took on a residency in pathology at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center in Torrance, California. He completed a fellowship in hematopathology at City of Hope in 1999 and joined the team full-time in 2000. For 12 years, Dr. Gaal served as the Hematopathology Fellowship Program Director, mentoring and training pathology residents as they prepared for careers in both academic medicine and community practice.
