About Me

Patients often praise the compassionate care they receive from Karen Sokolov, M.D., a board-certified radiation oncologist. She joined City of Hope® South Bay after more than 10 years of serving the Torrance, California, community. 

Dr. Sokolov studied chemistry at UCLA, where she was named Bruin of the Year, before earning her medical degree at UC San Francisco (UCSF). She went on to complete her internship at Saint Mary Medical Center in Long Beach and her residency in radiation oncology at UCLA, where she served as Chief Resident. 

She has extensive experience using advanced radiation techniques, including stereotactic radiosurgery (SRS), stereotactic body radiation therapy (SBRT), intensity-modulated radiation therapy (IMRT), image-guided radiation therapy (IGRT), 4D radiotherapy and specialized approaches for treating breast cancer and other conditions. 

In addition to her clinical work, Dr. Sokolov has published research focused on improving the safety and effectiveness of various radiation systems.
