Karen Cheng, M.D., is an assistant professor of radiation oncology at City of Hope® San Bernardino, where she combines clinical skill, kindness and respect for diverse cultures in caring for every patient.
Dr. Cheng’s path to medicine grew from her love of bioengineering and healthcare technology, along with a strong desire to give back to her community. She earned her medical degree from Boston University School of Medicine, then completed an internal medicine internship at Long Island Jewish Medical Center in Queens, New York. She went on to finish her radiation oncology residency at the University of Southern California/Los Angeles General Medical Center, where she also served as chief resident.
Her dedication to advancing new technologies in radiation oncology led her to City of Hope, known for its outstanding patient care and groundbreaking clinical research.
Dr. Cheng has published extensively in her field, including a book chapter about treating pineal region tumors. She has received several honors, such as the American College of Radiation Oncology Excellence in Mentorship Award, the Keck School of Medicine DEI Leaders Scholarship and the Boston University School of Medicine Anne and David Mischel Cancer Research Award. Along with English, she speaks Mandarin, Taiwanese and some Spanish.
