Dr. Kamal Patel joined Cancer Treatment Centers of America ® (CTCA) after serving as chief radiation oncology resident at Oregon Health & Science University hospitals in Portland. While there, he garnered the Rose Award for Excellence in Patient Care.

Dr. Patel completed his internship in family practice at Mount Sinai Hospital in Chicago. He obtained his medical degree from the Chicago Medical School, where he also earned a master’s of science degree in applied physiology. Prior to that, he received a bachelor’s degree in biology from the University of Iowa.

In addition, Dr. Patel gained extensive knowledge of brachytherapy for patients with prostate cancer at the Seattle Prostate Institute.

At our hospital, Dr. Patel serves as Medical Director of Radiation Oncology, meeting with many cancer patients for whom radiation therapy may be a treatment option. He thoroughly reviews each patient’s medical history, imaging reports (e.g., CT scans, PET/CT scans, MRIs) and performs extensive examinations. These are critical steps he makes to help him formulate treatment recommendations for each patient.

An advocate of patient empowerment and education, Dr. Patel believes it’s important for patients to learn as much as they can about their disease. He takes time to talk with them in great detail about their diagnosis and treatment, and answer any questions.

Patient ratings
The patient ratings and comments on this page are obtained from an external Press Ganey® outpatient survey provided to all eligible CTCA patients within one to two weeks of their treatment occurrence. Raw data from the answers to the survey questions about our physicians are calculated by Press Ganey into a one- to five- star rating. In the spirit of transparency, all patient comments are posted as written by the patient, whether they are positive or negative. We only exclude comments if they are deemed to be slanderous or libelous, contain profanity or vulgar language, or do not relate to the patient's experience with the doctor involved. As a result, the comments are the views and opinions of the patients surveyed and are not endorsed by, and may not necessarily reflect the opinion of, CTCA.

"I know you may have other Radiation Oncologist on staff that I didn't meet. And that are providing care at the level of standard that the hospital expects and for that matter that the hospital has me use to and expecting. BUT, THIS DR. PATEL GUY, NEED TO CLONE HIM MOST IMMEDIATELY. I'm not one that likes to not be in control of myself. Dr. Patel relieved all that anxiety with the manner, AND OVERALL COMPLETE KNOWLEDGE as he explained the process and his patience with my many questions along with my wife. His confidence in his ability to care for me, confirmed for me that I was where I needed to be. So, I let him drive the bus and I felt so confident and safe, I even took my seatbelt off a few times. As far as recommending him to others, everyone with a condition that I see, I tell. THANK YOU DR PATEL."
