Joo Song, M.D., is a professor in the Department of Pathology at City of Hope® Cancer Center Duarte and a member of the Toni Stephenson Lymphoma Center. He is double board-certified in hematopathology and clinical/anatomic pathology and plays a key role in helping diagnose blood cancers with accuracy and precision.
Before joining City of Hope Cancer Center Duarte, Dr. Song served as an assistant professor of pathology and associate medical director of outreach at the University of California Davis Medical Center, where he was honored with the Faculty Teaching Award and awarded a University of California Center for Health Quality and Innovation Fellowship.
Dr. Song studied biology at UCLA, graduating with honors, and went on to earn his medical degree from George Washington University in Washington, D.C. There, he also completed his residency in anatomic and clinical pathology, followed by a clinical fellowship in hematopathology at the National Institutes of Health, where he worked under renowned pathologist Elaine Jaffe, M.D.
Dr. Song is an active member of the College of American Pathologists and the Society for Hematopathology. He has authored more than 60 peer-reviewed publications, abstracts and book chapters, led externally funded research projects and has presented at major medical conferences across the country.
