M.D.
Medical Oncologist
Joanne Jeter, M.D., understands that every patient’s story is unique and strives to make a positive difference in their journey. As an expert in clinical cancer genomics, she helps patients understand their inherited cancer risks and empowers them — and often their family members — with information to make confident, informed decisions about their health.
Dr. Jeter joined City of Hope® Cancer Center Duarte in 2023, drawn by its reputation for groundbreaking cancer research and compassionate care. “As I saw more of my respected colleagues joining City of Hope and heard about the innovative work being done, I knew I wanted to be a part of it,” she says.
She is a nationally recognized cancer researcher and was named a fellow of the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO), one of the field’s highest honors. Her investigations have been supported by the National Cancer Institute, ASCO and SWOG (formerly the Southwest Oncology Group), and she has published many peer-reviewed scientific publications. She has also lectured around the world on oncology, genetics and end-of-life care.
Before coming to City of Hope in Duarte, Dr. Jeter served on the faculty at the University of Utah, The Ohio State University and the University of Arizona.
