Ji-Lian Cai, M.D., is a bone marrow transplant physician who believes that compassionate, personal care is just as important as medical expertise. He is also a member of the City of Hope®/Kaiser Bone Marrow Transplantation Team.
Originally trained as a molecular immunology researcher, Dr. Cai completed his residency at the Yale School of Medicine. He discovered a passion for blood cancers because the field allows him to blend his research background with hands-on patient care.
Dr. Cai views every patient facing chemotherapy or a stem cell transplant as a hero. He emphasizes that successful transplants depend on a strong team — including the patient, their loved ones and their medical team. He is honored by the trust patients place in him and strives to care for them as he would his own family.
Outside of work, Dr. Cai values time with his family. He enjoys traveling, hiking and playing badminton and ping-pong with his wife and children.
