About Me

Jeanelle Folbrecht, Ph.D., has made it her life’s mission to use her skills and compassion to ease the suffering of people with cancer and to support the physicians working toward a cure.

At City of Hope®, Dr. Folbrecht counsels children, teens and young adults coping with serious illness and long-term treatment. She helps them stay hopeful, focused and motivated to reach meaningful goals that can improve their quality of life. Her dedication to her patients extends beyond her work — when she met a young leukemia patient with no family, the Folbrechts opened their hearts and adopted him.

Dr. Folbrecht first connected with City of Hope after reading an article about a leukemia patient that inspired her to register as a bone marrow donor. She earned her Ph.D. from Fuller Graduate School of Psychology in Pasadena and completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Long Beach. For more than 16 years, she has been a valued member of City of Hope’s team, helping patients and families find strength and healing.

Patient reviews
The patient ratings and comments on this page are obtained from an external Press Ganey® outpatient survey provided to all eligible City of Hope patients within one to two weeks of their treatment occurrence. Raw data from the answers to the survey questions about our physicians are calculated by Press Ganey into a one- to five- star rating. In the spirit of transparency, all patient comments are posted as written by the patient, whether they are positive or negative. We only exclude comments if they are deemed to be slanderous or libelous, contain profanity or vulgar language, or do not relate to the patient's experience with the doctor involved. As a result, the comments are the views and opinions of the patients surveyed and are not endorsed by, and may not necessarily reflect the opinion of, City of Hope.
