About Me

Jason Salsamendi, MD, is the lead interventional radiologist at City of Hope® Orange County Lennar Foundation Cancer Center, offering patients access to some of today’s most advanced, minimally invasive procedures to diagnose and treat cancer. These include ultrasound-guided biopsies, radioembolization to treat liver tumors, kyphoplasty to relieve spinal fractures and treatments for vascular malformations.

After completing a combined seven-year undergraduate and medical program at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine, Dr. Salsamendi trained in radiology at Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York City, serving also as chief resident. He finished his training with a fellowship in interventional radiology at New York University.

Before joining City of Hope, Dr. Salsamendi cared for patients at Kaiser Permanente in Riverside, California, and taught at the University of Miami, where he earned the Department of Surgery’s Chief Resident Teaching Award. His research, which has been supported by the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, has been published in many medical journals and in the format of book chapters and case reports.

Fluent in Spanish, Dr. Salsamendi enjoys gardening and spending quality time with his wife and two children. Whether it’s biking, skateboarding, hiking, camping, playing basketball or tennis, he also loves staying active.

Patient reviews
The patient ratings and comments on this page are obtained from an external Press Ganey® outpatient survey provided to all eligible City of Hope patients within one to two weeks of their treatment occurrence. Raw data from the answers to the survey questions about our physicians are calculated by Press Ganey into a one- to five- star rating. In the spirit of transparency, all patient comments are posted as written by the patient, whether they are positive or negative. We only exclude comments if they are deemed to be slanderous or libelous, contain profanity or vulgar language, or do not relate to the patient's experience with the doctor involved. As a result, the comments are the views and opinions of the patients surveyed and are not endorsed by, and may not necessarily reflect the opinion of, City of Hope.
