Interventional Radiologist
Jason Salsamendi, MD, is the lead interventional radiologist at City of Hope® Orange County Lennar Foundation Cancer Center, offering patients access to some of today’s most advanced, minimally invasive procedures to diagnose and treat cancer. These include ultrasound-guided biopsies, radioembolization to treat liver tumors, kyphoplasty to relieve spinal fractures and treatments for vascular malformations.
After completing a combined seven-year undergraduate and medical program at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine, Dr. Salsamendi trained in radiology at Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York City, serving also as chief resident. He finished his training with a fellowship in interventional radiology at New York University.
Before joining City of Hope, Dr. Salsamendi cared for patients at Kaiser Permanente in Riverside, California, and taught at the University of Miami, where he earned the Department of Surgery’s Chief Resident Teaching Award. His research, which has been supported by the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, has been published in many medical journals and in the format of book chapters and case reports.
Fluent in Spanish, Dr. Salsamendi enjoys gardening and spending quality time with his wife and two children. Whether it’s biking, skateboarding, hiking, camping, playing basketball or tennis, he also loves staying active.
