About Me

Drawn to pursue a career in pediatric cancer care because it gave her the opportunity to connect closely with children and their families, Janet Yoon, MD, is a childhood hematologist-oncologist and the medical director of the Pediatric Musculoskeletal Tumor Program at City of Hope® Cancer Center Duarte. Dr. Yoon is inspired by the courage and determination of her patients and is committed to offering the most up-to-date treatments, with a special focus on therapies that reduce long-term side effects. 

Dr. Yoon earned her medical degree from the Medical College of Ohio in Toledo, then completed her pediatric residency at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston. After a fellowship in pediatric hematology/oncology fellowship at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles, she worked at the University of California (UC), Davis, Medical Center and later spent more than 10 years at UC San Diego/Rady Children’s Hospital, where she served as clinical professor and director of the pediatric solid tumors program. 

At City of Hope, Dr. Yoon collaborates closely with the adult sarcoma team to expand access to innovative clinical trials for adolescents and young adults with sarcoma. As head of the pediatric clinical research program, she also directs the development and conduct of clinical trials.
