Jamie Green Rand, M.D., is a highly skilled breast cancer surgeon dedicated to guiding her patients through every step of their cancer journey. At City of Hope® Cancer Center Duarte, she’s known not only for her surgical expertise, but also for her unwavering commitment to supporting her patients physically and emotionally throughout treatment.
“It’s wonderful to work in a place where we’re all working together toward a common goal of curing cancer and improving the lives of our patients,” she says. “My goal is to be there for my patients in all aspects of confronting and fighting this disease.”
Dr. Rand’s fascination with the human body began in childhood while observing her father, an ophthalmologist. Her knowledge grew through her years as a competitive gymnast, where she gained a deeper understanding of body mechanics and resilience.
She earned her bachelor’s degree in molecular biophysics and biochemistry at Yale University, followed by a medical degree from Weill Cornell Medical College in New York City. She then completed her general surgery internship and residency at New York-Presbyterian Hospital–Weill Cornell Medical Center, followed by a fellowship in surgical oncology at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles.
Dr. Rand is enthusiastic about advances in immunotherapy and surgical technologies, and her research explores these promising frontiers.
