James L. Lin, M.D., is the chief of gastroenterology and director of endoscopy at City of Hope® Cancer Duarte, where he specializes in diagnosing and treating patients with diseases including gastric and gastrointestinal cancers and colorectal cancer. He also has expertise in a wide range of endoscopic techniques. After earning his master’s degree in population dynamics and reproductive health at the Johns Hopkins School of Public Health in Baltimore, Dr. Lin then completed his medical degree at the Rutgers-Robert Wood Johnson Medical School in New Brunswick, New Jersey. He pursued further training via an internal medicine residency at the University of California Irvine, and a fellowship in gastroenterology at Chicago’s John H. Stroger Hospital of Cook County. A leader in endoscopy, Dr. Lin also completed an advanced fellowship in the field at the H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa, Florida, and training in endoscopic submucosal dissection at both the National Cancer Center in Tokyo, Japan, and Seoul National University Hospital in South Korea. Dr. Lin focuses his clinical work on gastric cancer, advanced endoscopic resection and therapeutic endoscopy. He is a member of City of Hope’s’ gastric cancer group and is dedicated to community outreach projects for high-risk populations, the management of dysplasia and early gastric cancers and advanced imaging research.
