Jae Y. Kim, M.D., is the chief of thoracic surgery at City of Hope® Cancer Center Duarte, where he diagnoses and treats a wide range of cancer types, including lung cancer, esophageal cancer, mesothelioma, sarcoma and thymoma and thymic carcinoma. He has expertise in both conventional open surgery and minimally invasive and robotic-assisted procedures.
Dr. Kim attended Harvard University as an undergraduate and went on to earn his medical degree from the University of California, San Francisco. He then pursued a fellowship in cardiothoracic surgery with a specialty in thoracic oncology at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas, before joining City of Hope’s team.
A physician-scholar, Dr. Kim conducts research into new treatments for lung and esophageal cancer and has led clinical trials focusing on improving outcomes for patients undergoing surgery for these conditions.
