I. Benjamin Paz, M.D., is a world-class cancer surgeon at City of Hope® Cancer Center Duarte who takes a compassionate, innovative approach to oncology care. Dr. Paz brings warmth and empathy to every patient interaction and believes that the goal of cancer treatment is to help people live full lives and pursue their dreams.
Dr. Paz is an expert in breast, gastrointestinal and rectal cancers, as well as complex tumors affecting the bones and soft tissues. He has been a pioneer in minimally invasive cancer surgery and his leadership helped establish one of California’s premier centers for minimally invasive surgical oncology.
Originally from Chile, Dr. Paz earned his medical degree there before continuing his training at the University of Arizona in Tucson. His global perspective and lifelong dedication to healing have shaped his career and his impact on thousands of patients. In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Paz has served as vice chair of the Department of Surgery at City of Hope. He played a key role in expanding surgical programs and launching multidisciplinary clinics designed to offer patients seamless, personalized care.
