About Me

Hortancia G. Puthumana, MD, is an Anesthesiologist at City of Hope® Cancer Center Chicago, where she serves as a vital member of patients’ multidisciplinary care teams as they receive treatment for a wide range of cancer types. 

After completing medical school and an internship at the Calicut Medical College in Kerala, India, Dr. Puthumana moved to the United States to pursue training in anesthesiology. She completed her internship and residency in this field at the University of Iowa in Iowa City, followed by an additional residency in anesthesiology at the Cook County Hospital in Chicago. Prior to joining City of Hope, she held positions at multiple clinics and hospitals across the state of Illinois. 

Dr. Puthumana is a member of the American Medical Association, the Chicago Medical Society and the American Society of Anesthesiologists. Outside her work with patients, she enjoys cooking, gardening and travel.
