For Hoda Z. Pourhassan, M.D., being a doctor is the perfect blend of science and compassion. She’s passionate about working as part of a team to support patients, and her background in researching the genetics of blood cancers helps guide the personalized care she provides at City of Hope® comprehensive cancer centers in the Chicago and Los Angeles areas.
Dr. Pourhassan earned both a medical degree and a master’s degree in health administration and management from Rosalind Franklin University in Chicago. She completed her medical training at several respected institutions, starting with a residency at Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis, where she also took part in research on stem cell transplants at the University of Minnesota. She later served as chief resident at Riverside Community Hospital and taught medical students at the University of California Riverside. Dr. Pourhassan went on to complete fellowships in oncology-hematology at Loma Linda University and in bone marrow transplantation and cellular therapy at City of Hope. She is fluent in Farsi (Persian).
